Tony Mills in Perth, Western Australia provides photos of a Spirit 28 made in Australia. Tony writes, "I am a member of the Royal Perth Yacht Club famous for wresting the America's cup off the Americans in 1983. We have a pleasant club house on the Swan river. ... There are three other Spirit28's in the club and up to 8 others spread around the Swan River, all made locally but apparently at two different yards, both of which out of business now."
Tony continues, "It is clear that their are many similarities between the yachts but the Australian Spirit is a Vand der Stadt design known in the UK as a Van der Stadt 28. The internal layout is quite different but the deck and lines are similar."
Tony had this boat surveyed as a preliminary step to purchasing, but decided to look for a newer boat with fewer issues based on the findings.
