Turn off Upper Applegate Rd. here, about a mile past the Star Gulch Ranger Station.  3/10ths of a mile down this gravel road is a small ATV / motorcycle play area that is used by nearby residents.  There is not much room to park, but one can manage get off the road at the play area.  A trail exiting out the back of the play area leads to Palmer Ridge Road. Those using trailers and multi-vehicle groups should not go in here, but instead access via Star Gulch Rd. where there is more room to park.
